Subsurface Drainage

The high cost of agricultural inputs and machinery require the farmer

to reduce the risks of crop loss. Farmers consider drainage to be a best management practice.

Farm drainage can be quite beneficial in winter times but also in drought.

The drainage system lowers the water table in the spring which promotes the roots of the plants a deeper and stronger growth.

It can also allow the farmer to plough the area much earlier than normal.

Water may be drained away by the main collector drain into an open drain which might feed into a creek or alternatively into a  large dam which may then be used for irrigation or stock water during dry times of the year.

Mastenbroek is the only machine that can carry out this type of work. It has automatic laser control which means that although the drainer may pivot up or down on uneven land, the piping is always level for laying as the laser comes into operation when the machine is 1/2 cm off level.
